HANGAR HOTEL WEBSITE
Description  Below Courtesy - Phil Phillips, SPAF3, 06/69-08/71, Pleiku & Kontum;  &  Founder International Birddog Association (IBDA

The Hangar Hotel is a 3 star hotel.  Well managed and great customer service.

·         The entire Hangar Hotel is in a 1940’s WWII theme and décor.   Way cool.
  • ·         There may be sufficient rooms in the Hangar Hotel (50 Rooms) for all Headhunters who attend. There are several other hotels within a few miles, if necessary)
  • ·         The first class Convention Center is 100’ away from the hotel
  • ·         The Convention Center has a beautiful ballroom with bar, as well as an even larger aviation theme Convention Center floor for meetings, merchandise sales, etc.
  • ·        The Hangar Hotel has a classy “Officer’s Club” with a WWII theme & full bar.
  • ·        The Hangar Hotel will arrange catering for any meal the HH group should want.  This would include breakfasts (probably burritos) in the convention center, and a final evening classy dinner in the ballroom.
  • There is an old fashioned diner attached to the Convention Center.   Lots of seating on stools and booths.  Great sandwiches and shakes.  A super option for lunches.
  • ·        The Hangar Hotel sits right on the Gillespie County general aviation airport.  The aircraft tie-downs are within 100’ of the hotel.  HH and guests can fly private aircraft to the event.  A fuel discount can be arranged.
  • ·        I know this is not a Birddog love fest event, but I am very confident we can attract 2 or 3 Bird Dogs to our HH event.  How many spouses have actually seen a Bird Dog up close?  How many spouses might be interested in a flight in the back seat of a Bird Dog?  How many HH might love a nostalgia flight in a Bird Dog?  Such flights can be arranged.   For sure, I will have “Saigon Tea” at the event if we hold the reunion at Hangar Hotel.  Our Bird Dog is in 219th colors, and I will fly as many HH and/or spouses as I can.  No charge.   Just share in fuel cost.
  • ·        There is an outside Tiki Bar next door to the hotel where event attendees can bring coolers with beer, soft drinks, as well as spirits to that bar.
  • ·        I can check with Hangar Hotel to see if there is a room inside the hotel that can be used as a hospitality room.
  • ·        There are a couple of real nice golf courses near the Hangar Hotel.
  • ·        Fredericksberg is a delightful small town with several German restaurants on the main street.  Other restaurants (Mexican, steak house, sandwich shops) as well.   All within 2 or 3 blocks from each other.
  • ·        Some decent shopping on the main street in Fredericksberg.
  • ·        There are 2 or 3 WORLD CLASS wineries within 5 miles from downtown Fredericksberg.  The one the IBDA went to was spectacular!  Wine, beer, spirits, and a simple 2 choice meal (chicken or beef) for large groups.  Seating easy for 200+ people, and great service by the staff.   Affordable as well.
  • ·        The NIMETZ Museum (Maybe Museum Of The Pacific now) is on the main street in Fredericksberg.   Absolutely AWESOME museum.   One of the best I have ever visited.
  • ·        Several major airlines fly into both Austin and San Antonio.   Austin is maybe a 1.5 hour drive to Fredericksberg, and San Antonio is maybe 1.2 hour drive.   So easy.
THERE IS ALSO THE POSSIBILITY OF SEVERAL BIRDDOGS FLYING IN TO SUPPORT THE REUNION. THIS ACCORDING PHIL.

ABOUT US

The Hangar Hotel is not just for pilots. It is for anyone who wants more than just a bed and shower.
Built new from the ground up, the Hangar Hotel was uniquely designed with an exterior appearance of a WWII hangar of the romantic 1940s. This exterior is an understatement of what will be experienced under the beautiful curved metal roof and bright white siding.
The Hangar Hotel is a stylish adult environment featuring airplane memorabilia, USO history and the romance of the 1940s. Relax amidst the aviation-themed backdrop and experience the Hangar Hotel’s service and attention to detail, steeped in the excitement of a bygone era.
Located inside the city of Fredericksburg, Texas, only three miles from main street, on South Adams (highway 16 South). The Hotel is adjacent to the runway ramp area of the Gillespie County Airport (T82), providing excellent viewing of those spectacular flying machines.
